The restructuring of the Community Development Department (KEMAS) in 2015 led to the rebranding of the Curriculum and Inspectorate Division and Management and Nutrition Division. Both divisions have been merged into the Early Childhood Education Division.

The Early Childhood Education Division coordinates and manages the Early Childhood Education Programme according to the National Preschool Standard Curriculum (NPSC) under the Ministry of Education Malaysia (MOE) and Child Care Centre Act 1984 under the Social Welfare Department (JKM) as well as the National Early Childhood Care and Education Policy (PERMATA Negara).
